Festa del Redentore 2019 Venice
The Venice Festa del Redentore of 2019 will be on July 20 and 21. The Feast of the Redeemer is celebrated every year on the third weekend of July, with celebrations that start Saturday afternoon and last all Sunday. The highlight of the party is Saturday at 11.30 pm when fabulous fireworks illuminate the Venetian night with thousands of colors and spectacular effects. Starting in the early afternoon on Saturday, in front of the Island of San Giorgio, at San Marco, and along the Giudecca Canal, boats of every type gather in a magical atmosphere of garlands and music to await the fireworks. When the sun goes down the boats are illuminated with lights and the party gets started: it is truly a remarkable sight!
The festival spreads even beyond the boats, spreading to the palaces, the terraces (including our terrace at Bloom!) and in the restaurants of Venice, which offer the typical Redentore menu: sarde in saor (fried sardines with onion), bovoleti (lagoon snails with garlic and parsley), and pasta with fasoi (pasta with beans).
After 40 minutes of fireworks, Redentore tradition dictates that celebrations move down to the beaches on the Lido of Venice to wait for dawn.
On Sunday, the party continues with rowing regattas and the religious pilgrimage to the splendid Basilica del Redentore, built in the 1500s by the greatest architect of the Renaissance: Andrea Palladio.
